A former national editor who started his career at a local newspaper has been appointed to help adjudicate a complaint to the media watchdog.
The Independent Press Standards Organization has announced the appointment of Ted Young to its complaints committee, following his recent resignation after eight years as Metro editor.
Ted started his career at Harrow Observer and has also worked for the Northern Echo, Today, The Sun, Daily Mail, Daily Express, London Light, Mail Online and New York Daily News.
He also previously served on IPSO’s Editorial Ethics Committee for five years.
Ted, pictured, said: “I am delighted to be joining the IPSO Complaints Committee as I have been at the very edge of IPSO judgments and gained insight into the thinking behind editorial decisions that will be of benefit to the Committee. Masu.”
Complaints Committee Chair Raord Fawkes added: “I am delighted to welcome Mr. Ted Young to his IPSO Complaints Committee. I support the association.”
Charlotte Dewar, chief executive of IPSO, said: “Ted brings many years of industry experience to the Complaints Committee.
“As someone who has most recently been at the helm of editorial decisions around contemporary news titles, he will bring a fresh and up-to-date perspective to the committee’s discussions.”
