Prince Frederick, Maryland – During the week of February 12 to February 18, 2024, Calvert County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to 2,181 calls for service throughout the community, including:

Fugitive: 24-12185
On February 14, 2024, DFC Wilder initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling significantly above the posted speed limit in the area of Calvert Cliffs State Parkway in Lusby. DFC Wilder observed the vehicle driving aggressively as well as running red lights. The driver then accelerated while driving and turned off his lights in an attempt to escape DFC Wilder. The car eventually came to a stop in a residential driveway in the 1000 block of Ball Road. The driver, identified as Zamari Rydell Talley, 20, of Prince Frederick, was arrested and transported to the Calvert County Jail, where he was charged with traffic-related crimes including negligent driving, reckless driving, fleeing and eluding.
Fugitive: 24-12565
On February 16, 2024, Senior Deputy Idol observed a motorbike traveling at high speed, cutting off traffic in Dunkirk. S/D Idle spotted the vehicle near the ferry landing road and attempted a traffic stop with lights and sirens activated. The driver continued southbound at speeds in excess of 80 mph. The driver sped around his deputy’s car onto the shoulder, into the grass, and passed a vehicle on the wrong side of the road. In an attempt to stop the pursuit, S/D Idol slowed the vehicle to allow the driver to safely stop in the roadway, but instead drove onto an embankment and continued to flee. The S/D idol caught up with the car and the driver stopped. The driver, Hunter Bruce Swarthout, 27, of Lothian, was taken into custody and transported to the Calvert County Jail, where he was charged with fleeing and eluding and several other traffic-related violations.
Tampering: 24-12620
On February 16, 2024, Deputy Tunnell responded to the Ford dealership located at 10 Solomons Island Road in Prince Frederick for a report of vehicle tampering. The complainant contacted us to report that at approximately 12:45 a.m. on February 15th, an unknown white male was lurking around the dealership’s parking lot, entered the dealership, and took items from approximately 25 to 30 vehicles. . At this time, the estimated value of the damaged and stolen items is unknown.
Theft: 24-12301
On February 15, 2024, Deputy Ginn responded to the 7300 block of F Street in Chesapeake Beach for a theft call. The complainant reported that his leaf blower, a 2022 Redmax EBX8560 75.66CC backpack, was stolen from Horace of Owings’ trailer while he was parked on Ward Road. The estimated value of the stolen goods is he $690.

On February 16, 2024, Deputy Campbell responded to a call of an attempted theft of a vehicle at the Crossroads Christian Church Park and Ride located at 150 Ball Road in St. Leonard. The complainant reported that someone attempted to steal his company vehicle, a white 2020 Ford Transit van. The complainant observed signs of forced entry. The glove box was found open, the ignition system had been tampered with and a hole had been punched through the steering column, and three Milwaukee 12V batteries were missing. He has an estimated value of $1,100 for the damaged property and an estimated cost of $18,000 to replace the vehicle.
Weapons Violation: 24-13416
On February 18, 2024, Deputy Baxter responded to a traffic complaint along SB Rt 4 in the area of Lancaster Drive in St. Leonard. The complainant reported that he witnessed a red passenger car collide with the guardrail multiple times while driving. Witnesses observed the vehicle turn and continue driving northbound in the southbound lane. The complainant observed the vehicle heading towards Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Station in Lusby, and a security guard spotted the vehicle in the car park. The trooper observed the driver get out of the vehicle and urinate in front of the vehicle. Upon contact with the driver, Donovan Lee Bragg, 21, of Pataskala, Ohio, officers detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverages coming from Bragg’s breath. After a series of standard field sobriety tests, the investigation determined that Donovan was impaired and unable to safely operate a motor vehicle. He said when Donovan was taken into custody, he told police he had a loaded handgun in his car. Two magazines and a holster were also recovered. Donovan was charged with negligent reckless driving, driving under the influence, driving under the influence, and loading a handgun in a vehicle.
Weapons Violation: 24-12988
On February 17, 2024 at 3:45 p.m., Senior Deputy (S/D) Idle observed a blue street motorcycle traveling northbound from Cox Road in Huntingtown at a high rate of speed. S/D Idol caught up with the vehicle and reported that it was traveling over 160 mph as it weaved through traffic. Due to heavy traffic and additional police units responding, the driver was forced to slow down and safely end the pursuit. The suspect, Malachi Lashawn Harvey, 20, of District Heights, was taken into custody. During the arrest search, a firearm (polymer semi-automatic handgun) loaded with ten 9mm Luger rounds was discovered in Harvey’s front pocket. Harvey was transported to the Calvert County Jail and charged with concealing a dangerous weapon, loading a handgun on a person, negligent and reckless driving, fleeing and eluding, and other traffic-related violations.
