Northern Echo runs special edition for International Women’s Day

The regional daily has commemorated International Women’s Day with a special issue celebrating female inspiration.

The Northern Echo marked the occasion by “celebrating the women of the North East who have done amazing work for our region”.

The Darlington-based Echo has featured profiles of some of the region’s most inspiring women in its pages.

Their photos were also featured on the cover.

Editor Gavin Foster told HTFP yesterday: “Today, we honor the incredible achievements of women in our region who have led the way and inspired the next generation of politicians, business leaders, and stars of stage, film, and sport. I thought.

“But it is also an acknowledgment and statement that there is still much work to do before we reach a fair and equal footing.”

Hannah Chapman, the first female editor of the Northern Echo and now editor of Newsquest’s sister weekly Darlington & Stockton Times, said: ‘On International Women’s Day, we would like to celebrate the recognition of so many outstanding women. “It’s always inspiring to see achievements highlighted, especially those of women.” They work hard to smooth the path to success for others who follow in their footsteps.
