Fox News star Jeanine Pirro addressed the issue Thursday night on “Hannity.” “There’s a guy named Smirnov who was a respected confidential informant for the FBI for 10 years,” she said. “They paid him, so he was very trustworthy. Margot Cleveland, a correspondent for the right-wing online outlet The Federalist, argued that special counsel David C. Weiss, who investigated Hunter Biden and indicted Smirnov last week, was guilty. Cleveland said Weiss didn’t investigate the informants’ backgrounds beforehand, allowing him to continue “interfering with our elections and pushing other lies to the FBI in obscurity.” Ta.
“One thing is certain,” Ms. Cleveland wrote. “Even if Smirnov is guilty, that doesn’t make Weiss innocent.”
Some argued that the case against the Biden family remained secure. Years of attempts by congressional Republicans to advance claims that Biden and his son took bribes or engaged in corrupt dealings were repeatedly defeated or yielded no credible evidence. Still, a reporter for the digital news outlet Gateway Pundit, which frequently reports on right-wing conspiracies, insists that Smirnov’s credibility is actually intact and that his claims still stand.
