Buena Vista University students and faculty attended the University of Iowa Media Association conference on Feb. 8 and took home 30 statewide honors, including one major award for defending the First Amendment. .
Iowa universities with student media outlets participate annually in the ICMA Student Journalism Competition, which is judged by newspaper, radio, and television experts.
BVU students earned 10 top awards throughout the night in categories including video news program, experimental video, long-form audio storytelling, multimedia storytelling and best air personality.
“We are grateful to be able to actively participate in ICMA every year,” said Digital Media Professor Dr. Andrea Franz. “Our students not only have the opportunity to have their work evaluated by experts in the field, but also to see what kind of work other student media leaders around the state are producing. There are also opportunities. We are proud of the outstanding achievements of our BVU Digital Media students this year. ”
