The Liverpool Echo has given Eurovision fans a special offer of memorabilia after its patch hosted a singing contest over the weekend.
After representing Ukraine in the competition in Liverpool on Saturday night, the Sunday Echo reported on the victory of Swedish singer Laureen.
The Echo had previously campaigned for the city to host the competition after it was revealed that the 2023 event would be held in the UK.
Editor Maria Breslin praised the coverage of both the team’s build-up and the contest itself.
Maria told HTFP: “Liverpool not only hosted Eurovision, but also embraced it in all its sequins and glitter glory, welcoming the thousands of visitors to the city with open arms.
“We never forgot that we were organizing the contest on behalf of the Ukrainian people and always tried to reflect this in our coverage.
“We liveblogged the grand final and semi-finals, but what we really focused on was the people on the streets dressed in their best clothes and having the time of their lives.” Our amazing photographers perfectly captured the atmosphere of the party.
“We may be a bit biased, but the past few weeks have shown Liverpool at their best, with special commemorative prints, eye-catching covers, excellent live reporting and visitors really looking forward to We think we’ve reflected that with a helpful insider’s guide to most of what the city has to offer.
“It’s been an action-packed few weeks and I’m so proud of our team. They have worked hard to deliver the quality coverage our viewers have come to expect.
“I think Martin Osterdal, the head of Eurovision, was only half-joking when he said he wanted to hold it in Liverpool every year.”
