Mukilteo— Mukilteo Police Chief Andy Illin presented local crime fighter and resident Debbie Willcutt with the Community Law Enforcement Award on February 20 for her exemplary volunteer work in public safety. Below is his full speech to the city council.
“One of the core values of the Mukiltio Police Department is community. However, I have not always done the best job in recognizing our outstanding partners in the city. Tonight, I am very special. We would like to rectify this problem by awarding a prestigious award.
“Since coming to our city, Debbie has exemplified an unwavering dedication to our department. Her unwavering support consistently donates snacks, cards, and great lemon bars, provides food, and supports the community. It’s evident in her reminders to staff that society values their selfless and invisible actions. I think it’s safe to say she stops by almost every week.
“Debbie’s partnership with the Mukiltio Police Department has been truly exemplary. She has participated in the Citizens Academy, attended National Night Out events, attended promotion ceremonies, and actively participated in community meetings. Her active involvement in a variety of initiatives, including enforcement, demonstrates her deep commitment to fostering strong and collaborative bonds between communities and law enforcement.
“Furthermore, Debbie’s valuable role as a key intelligence source cannot be overstated. Her willingness to communicate information to the intelligence services directly contributed to the success of several operations. , highlighting the profound impact of citizen engagement in our collective efforts to ensure public safety.
