Forest Hills: The Last Year has announced a crossover with Troma Entertainment. The collaboration will see the upcoming horror game incorporate elements of some of Troma’s most popular flicks, including the cult-classic splatter movie The Toxic Avenger.
Forest Hills: The Last Year is a new version of the asymmetrical multiplayer horror game Last Year: The Nightmare, which originally debuted on Discord in December 2018 before making its way to Steam a year later. Back then, the Kickstarter-funded title was in development at Elastic Games. But after the Canadian studio declared bankruptcy, Last Year was pulled from all storefronts in late 2021. A new company, Undaunted Games, announced that it’s picking up the project in April 2023, with plans to release it in a new and improved form sometime in 2024.

Dead by Daylight releases Chapter 31, All Things Wicked, introducing a terrifying new Killer and an additional map, among other other novelties.
The Toxic Avenger Is Getting Video Game Treatment
Undaunted has now appeared at Pax East 2024 to announce that it is partnering with Troma Entertainment, the production company behind many famous B movies that pioneered the modern horror comedy genre. The collaboration will see Forest Hills: The Last Year include a number of elements from Troma’s famous flicks, like a new playable class based on Toxie. That move will mark yet another return to the limelight for the iconic superhero, who was most recently portrayed by Peter Dinklage in The Toxic Avenger reboot, which hit the silver screens in 2023.
The crossover will also encompass a new themed map, more “Displaced” survivors, some additional environmental objects, and an extra Fiend inspired by Troma Entertainment’s opus. This announcement marks another milestone in Undaunted’s efforts to expand the original version of Last Year: The Nightmare before relaunching it under a new name. The Canadian studio confirmed that more partnerships with famous horror franchises are in the pipeline and will be announced in due time.
While Forest Hills: The Last Year is still pending a release date, Undaunted had previously said it’s aiming to debut the initial version of the game in June 2024. In the meantime, the company is currently showing off its new Troma-inspired map and Fiend to PAX East attendees, at booth 13085 in the Exhibitors Hall. Its stand will remain open for the duration of the convention, which concludes on Sunday, March 24.
