A local publisher has discontinued a celebrity-focused title it launched 10 months ago to feature people in the news.
National World’s People World website is now live and redirects readers to the group’s national news site, National World.
Its official account Last post on X was September 1st.
The launch of People World was announced in November last year with the aim of covering people including celebrities, royals, athletes, politicians and reality TV stars.
The site is edited by Marina Licht (pictured), who is currently listed as a staff member on the National World site.
HTFP is seeking clarification on what happened to the rest of People World’s four-strong launch team.
At the time of its founding, National World stated its aim to recruit more journalists to the project throughout 2023.
The site was launched just days after the publisher launched its soccer title 3 added Minutes, and continues to operate as a standalone site.
Mark Thompson, Director of Digital Content at National World, said at the time: “With the launch of People World and 3 Additional Minutes, we are entering an exciting era as we introduce new brands that will deliver content-focused services to a large and diverse audience.
“We’ve been able to build an exciting team for People World, with journalists full of energy and ideas, with a deep understanding of what people really want to read and see.”
