MORRIS COUNTY — Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Denville Police Chief Frank Perna have charged Robert H. Klar, 54, of Denville, with unlawful sale and possession of a firearm. It has been confirmed that he has been arrested on suspicion.
Klar is accused of selling a modified shotgun in Denville in January. After executing a search warrant at Klar’s Denville residence, authorities seized approximately 17 firearms, including rifles and handguns. Additionally, evidence implicating Krall in the manufacture of these prohibited devices was seized, including two firearm silencers and an assembly manual. In addition to these finds, $17,000 in cash, a high capacity magazine, multiple hollow point bullets, approximately 2 pounds of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia were also seized. Mr. Klar was arrested on February 6th following a motor vehicle stop conducted by members of the Special Enforcement Unit and the Denville Police Department.
Klar was charged with:
• Possession of a firearm during the commission of a CDS crime. Violation of NJS 2C:39-4.2, a crime of the second degree.
• Possession of CDS with intent to distribute, in violation of NJS 2C:35-5b(11)(a), is a crime of the third degree.
• Possession of a loaded rifle, third-degree crime, in violation of NJS 2C:39-5(c)(2).
• Conspiracy to deface firearms. A crime of the third degree, in violation of NJS 2C:35-5-2 and 2C:39-9(e).
• Money laundering. Violation of NJS 2C:21-25(a), a crime of the third degree.
• Defacing a firearm, a third-degree crime, in violation of NJS 2C:39-9(e).
• Possession of a damaged firearm in violation of NJS 2C:39-3(d). A crime of the fourth degree.
• Unlawful possession of CDS in violation of NJS 2C:35-10a(3)(b). A crime of the fourth degree.
• Manufacturing, transporting, and disposing of firearm silencers in violation of NJS 2C:39-9(c), a fourth-degree crime.
• Unlawful distribution of a damaged firearm, in violation of NJS 2C:39-9(e). 4th degree crime.
The defendant was conditionally released on pretrial supervision.
