A young businessman who kidnapped a television anchor to force her into marriage has been arrested in Hyderabad, police said on Thursday.
Pranav, a technician who also works part-time as an anchor for a Telugu television channel, was abducted from Uppal district on the night of February 10. He managed to escape from their clutches the next day and filed a police report.
A case was registered at Uppal police station under Rachakonda police jurisdiction.
Police launched an investigation and Trisha was arrested. She confessed that she kidnapped him because she wanted to marry him.
The woman, who works in the digital marketing business, had seen Pranav’s photos and details on a matrimonial website two years ago. Someone had created a fake ID using Pravan’s photo and she called him to warn him.
Police said Pranav later filed a complaint with the police alleging that his profile and photo had been misused.
The woman then became interested in Pranav and wanted to marry him. Although he was not interested, she continued to pester him for marriage. She had also secretly installed a GPS device in Pranav’s car to track his movements.
She hired four goons to kidnap him on February 10th as he was returning home from work. He was taken to her office, where he was confined in her room.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Purushottam Reddy said Trisha was arrested. The four people who kidnapped Pranav were on the run. -IANS
