NEW BERN, Craven County – Familiar face Tyler Hardin has been promoted to evening main anchor at WCTI News 12. Hardin will replace his News 12 anchor Frank Fraboni, who retires in November 2023.
In his new role, Tyler will anchor the 5:30, 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts and lead the News 12 investigative team. He will appear with Valentina Wilson on the 6 p.m. newscast. Tyler will also continue his role as an anchor on News 12 on FOX (WYDO) at 10 p.m.
“I am honored to have this opportunity with News 12.” Hardin said. “I greatly value the trust of our community members, and I look forward to sharing insightful and impactful stories from across Eastern North Carolina.”
Tyler began his broadcasting career as a reporter at WCTI from 2018 to 2020. He provided extensive coverage of the aftermath of Hurricane Florence, brought clarity in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, and gave ECU interim chancellor answers after photos from a Greenville bar were leaked. He was also the first television journalist to seek it out.
Tyler returned to Eastern North Carolina in 2022, anchoring News 12 at 10pm on FOX and reporting to the News 12 Investigations Team. His research includes delving into complaints about poor water quality and excessively high bills, unraveling artificial intelligence, raising concerns about rising juvenile crime, and uncovering new leads in cold cases. Tyler is from North Carolina. He graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in Electronic Media/Broadcasting. When he’s not anchoring or reporting, he loves to travel and explore everything in the state, from the mountains to the Crystal Coast.
