A local news reporter expressed his joy at landing what he described as his “dream job” in a national newspaper.
Yorkshire Live reporter Lucy Marshall joined the Daily Mirror, which also won the Reach title, just three years after completing a journalism degree.
The former Hull Daily Mail reporter announced his big decision in a thread on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, saying he was “looking forward to the challenge of writing for a national newspaper”.
It’s something of a revelation for the 26-year-old, who joins the national title as a lifestyle reporter just three years after earning her degree from Lincoln University during the coronavirus pandemic. It’s a career advancement.
Lucy said: “This is truly a dream job for me and I am very happy and looking forward to the challenge.
“It’s not an easy industry to break into, so I’ve been working on Reach PLC’s regional websites for the past three years and I’m proud of everything I’ve achieved so far to reach one of the company’s national sites. Masu.
“I really couldn’t have done this without the amazing people I’ve worked with and the people who have guided me.
“During my stay, I visited Buckingham Palace, went on police raids and chases, reported on horrific local crimes and tragedies, the Ukraine-Russia war, reported from Leeds Bradford Airport and even attended Leeds Festival. I wrote the manuscript from my tent.
