Scottsdale, Arizona (3TV/CBS 5) — New video released Friday night shows Scottsdale police chasing a stolen car and arresting a man wanted on murder charges who stabbed a McDonald’s employee in a surprise attack.
The police Real-Time Crime Center found Raad al-Mansoori’s four-door sedan in a parking lot on Sunday, the department said. Police said Al-Mansoori tried to flee in his car after being spotted by officers, but police “took immediate action” and arrested him.
The video shows a silver car on the property. The police video then switched to body camera footage showing Al-Mansouri getting out of his car, handcuffed and an officer’s gun drawn. It appears that a police officer in a marked pickup truck may have prevented his escape.
Body camera video then showed him walking and being loaded into a police SUV. “With the support of RTCC and other Valley institutions, our community is a safer place,” the video states.
Investigators said Al-Mansoori stabbed a woman during an attempted carjacking near 19th Street and Glendale Avenue in Phoenix. And on Sunday, he allegedly followed his girlfriend into a McDonald’s bathroom as a surprise and stabbed her multiple times.
While in custody, Almansouri admitted to killing Denis Oleas Aranchibia at the Soho Hotel in New York in the early morning hours of February 8, police said. The suspect is also a suspect in other cases in Florida and Texas.
Al-Mansoori remains in Arizona, with an extradition hearing scheduled for March 4. Maricopa County’s top prosecutor and New York’s district attorney are engaged in a cross-country feud over the case.
