New developments and advances are occurring rapidly in areas such as virtual reality and human-computer interaction. The production of all this digital content opens up numerous employment opportunities as well as venues for artistic expression. This degree helps prepare students for the world of digital media. The transferable core skills learned in this degree will also enable students to move into media as employers increasingly incorporate digital media-related tasks into jobs that previously did not require media knowledge. You’ll be more employable in jobs you don’t focus on. This degree also creates opportunities for students interested in pursuing film arts to do so in a way that not only cultivates their innate creative voice but also provides a practical skill set. This combination expands employment opportunities for students after graduation.
This interdisciplinary degree in digital media provides students with a core set of digital media production skills, software proficiency, media history and theory, and knowledge of different narratives and narrative structures. Students will be able to choose courses based on their interests. The list of courses to choose from includes numerous courses in digital audio and video production, digital animation and game design, and film and television writing. All students complete a digital media capstone project tailored to their unique interests.
The Bachelor of Digital Media degree is designed for students who want to pursue a path that combines art and technology, allowing for both artistic expression and preparation for a career in a variety of digital media.
