Reach plc’s former head of regional content has taken up a new role with responsibility for national newspaper titles.
Jackie Merrington (pictured) retired from regional publishing in August and was most recently discovery director for the Live network of websites.
She has now taken on a new role as Deputy Commercial Editorial Director at Mail Metro Media, publisher of the Daily Mail, MailOnline, Metro and i.
In this piece, she teams up with old colleague and former Lincolnshire Echo editor Stephen Fletcher, who worked with Jackie at the Nottingham Post in the early 2000s and is now Commercial Editorial Director at Mail Metro Media. will be assembled.
Posting on LinkedIn, Jackie wrote: “And so a new chapter begins…This week, he is delighted to be joining the Metro He Media team as Deputy Director of Commercial Editorial.
“It’s been a while since I’ve had a new girl in the office and it’s been a whirlwind two days. But I’ve been made to feel very welcome by the lovely people, including my former partner in crime Stephen Fletcher.
“The last time I went to work with Fletch, he brought me five pints of Guinness the first week. This time I got a fruit bowl and a chocolate advent calendar. I guess things have changed. Still, I love Satsuma.
“I’m looking forward to learning a lot from the hugely talented team, working with our clients to develop lots of creative new ideas, and carving out an exciting new bridging role between commercial and editorial across print and digital. I am.”
Jacqui’s recent role at Reach included overseeing a search engine optimization project aimed at increasing online readership across the Live network.
She has previously held senior roles at Reach and its predecessor companies, including editor-in-chief of two Cornish weekly magazines, launch editor of the Cornwall Live website, and audience and content director for the South West of England. was doing.
