A woman who claimed to be in love with a man who worked as a news anchor used a GPS tracking device to kidnap and blackmail him. She was arrested by Uppal police on Thursday along with her colleagues.
Uppal N. Election Reddy Inspector said that Bhogireddy Trishna (31), a digital marketing executive residing in Madhapur, met the person through social media.
“She was allegedly scammed by a scammer on a matrimonial site and the scammers used the man’s photo to scam her. She approached him on social media and warned him about his photo.” said the official, adding that after receiving repeated messages from her, he blocked her number and distanced himself from her.
Meanwhile, she paid a colleague to install a GPS tracking device on his car to track his movements and kidnapped him from Uppal on February 11 with the help of five others.
“He was locked up and released after threatening to reply to her messages and assuring her that he would do so,” the official added.
A case was filed following a complaint from the victim and Trishna was arrested by Uppal police on Thursday.
