The Metropolitan Police will take no further action against suspended GB News anchor Dan Wootton.
Police were investigating allegations that Wootton used a false identity online and offered money to others to obtain explicit content about himself. Mr Wootton previously said there had been an “error in judgment” but denied any wrongdoing on his part.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson told the BBC: “In June 2023, the Metropolitan Police was contacted in relation to an alleged sexual offense by a man in his 40s. Officers were asked to confirm whether a criminal offense had been committed. All information has been evaluated.
It added: “An investigation has been launched into these allegations. All parties involved have been notified that no further action will be taken. No arrests were made during the investigation.”
Mr. Wootton issued a statement through his lawyer, calling the accusations “completely false and a lie intended to destroy my career, motivated by the complainant’s malicious intent.”
Mr Wootton was suspended from GB News in October following a highly misogynistic rant by guest Laurence Fox, during which Mr Wootton could be heard laughing. He later apologized on social media.
The abuse led to Fox being fired from the network and became the most frequent complaint about broadcasting to Ofcom this year.
Mr Wootton was also dropped by MailOnline, where he wrote a column.
