JONESVILLE – Tory Hinson Shaw, affectionately known as “Toto,” was born May 11, 1977 in Natchez, Mississippi, and passed away peacefully in Jonesville, Louisiana. She Tori was the cherished daughter of Jimmy Duane Hinson Jr. and Gloria Ann Otwell.
Tori’s memory will live on forever through her beloved sons, Chance Shaw and Skyrum Hinson;
She has siblings: Trey Hinson (wife, Bambi Hinson) and their children, Gloria and Gabe, Tabitha Otwell (husband, Miles McMillin) and their children, Mason and Anna, and Zach Otwell (wife). , Nicole Otwell) and their children, Olivia and Kennedy, Adrian Otwell, and Arial Otwell. her parents-in-law, Jeffrey Otwell and April Otwell; She is also survived by her aunts Carolyn Beatty, Becky Smith, Melinda and Celia Hinson; her great-aunt Carol Prudhamme and her great-uncle Robert Prudhamme;
Tory was predeceased by her husband Van Shaw, her parents Gloria Ann Otwell and Jimmy Duane Hinson Jr., and her grandparents Shirley Smith, Marion Smith, Jimmy Duane Hinson Sr., Betty White; Join Rhonda Blackwell. and her uncles, Mike Smith, Arthur Blackwell, Jerry Beatty, Greg Hinson, Richard Hinson and Lynn Hinson.
Torie’s life was marked by remarkable achievements and passion. She became Simsboro High School’s all-time basketball scorer in 1995, when she scored an astonishing 42 points in one game. Tory received a full scholarship and continued his basketball journey as a player at Copiah-Lincoln in Wesson, Mississippi. Besides sports, Torie found joy in horseback riding, had a deep love of music and an appreciation for the beauty of nature, especially the moon.
Above all, Torie will be remembered for her unwavering love and compassion as a mother, sister, relative and friend. Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone who knew her, and she left a lasting impact on the hearts of many.
A celebration of Tory’s life will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Good Lord Pentecostal Church with Pastor Chad Franklin officiating. Her burial will be at Smith Cemetery in Jonesville, Louisiana. The family will receive friends at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the 11 a.m. service.
Tori Hinson Shaw’s legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those who were lucky enough to know her. May she rest in peace, forever surrounded by her beauty, which she cherished so much.
Honoring Tory as pallbearers will be Alton McGee, John “Tuck” Tapper, Seth Parker, Miles McMillin, Zachariah Otwell and Gaven Hinson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Hinson, Trey Hinson and Greger Hinson.
