hyderabad:
Police on Friday said that a businessman who allegedly stalked and later kidnapped a TV music channel anchor for the purpose of marrying him has been arrested in Hyderabad.
The woman is suspected of installing a tracking device on the TV anchor’s car and stalking him to monitor his movements.
The 31-year-old woman, who runs a digital marketing business, saw the TV anchor’s photo on a matrimonial website two years ago and started chatting with the account holder. However, she later discovered that her account holder had been using her TV anchor’s photo as her matrimonial site’s profile picture, rather than her own photo.
She then searched the profile and found the anchor’s phone number.
She contacted the anchor through an instant messaging app, but he informed her that someone unknown had created a fake account on a matrimonial site using his photo and that she had filed a complaint with the cyber crime police station about it. I was informed.
However, the woman continued to send messages to the anchor.
He then blocked her number, police said.
Police said the woman planned the kidnapping because she was determined to marry Anker and thought she could resolve the situation.
So she hired four people to kidnap Anker and also installed a tracking device on the victim’s car to monitor his movements.
According to police, on February 11, four hired men kidnapped the victim, took her to the woman’s office and severely beat her.
Police said the TV anchor feared for his life and agreed to respond to the woman’s call, but he was later released.
He then filed a complaint at Uppal police station and a case was registered under sections 363 (kidnapping), 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement) and related sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
During the investigation, police arrested the female suspect and four men she hired to carry out the kidnapping.
